Serenity sighed lightly. "I don't no how you get yourself into these messes," she said with a small smile, hugging him. She sifted her fingers through his hair, grinning slightly.

Zane sighed, closing his eyes. "Well, you might have to find somebody else...Maere loves me, and I love her, but if she loses me...she has nothing...if a Shamer didn't work under the Ice Warden and the Fire Warden, and if people were like those who tried witches and burned them at the stake...they probably would do that to her."
