Nagumi lives in an orphan home. She used to live on the streets in the United States until she met Ms. Runo, the current owner of the orphan home.
Ms. Runo brought Nagumi and a few other homeless children with her to Japan, where she does her best to find homes for them. All the children have been adopted except for Nagumi and her younger sister, Kimine.
